    Unhappy

Posted this awhile ago about whether my Cartech was sticking. Static is usually 52-53 psi. After driving around and especially after hard runs the in-cabin guage drops to 39-40.

Some of you had suggested the possibility of a bad reading from the sender. Just yesterday after a drive and the engine is warmed up with the gauge reading 40, popped the hood while idling and sure enough, I see 44 psi (always about 4 - 5 psi difference) on the underhood gauge!!

Aside from the usual cursed part-throttle detonation, car runs well as it always had. I can always pull the Cartech out for inspection, but I really wouldn't know what to do with it.

Now I could be wrong, but I'm starting to suspect the fuel pump. Never found out what pump but it's a good bet that it'd be the GSS-317. Many mentioned that this pump may not be strong enough to hold at WOT and I did many a hard runs WOT since I had the kit installed 3 yrs. ago. I'm notice harder starts more frequently. It kinda just sputters to life when I start the car.

    Any suggesions...pleeease.

My in car gauge shows anywhere from 38-43 at idle, I believe the temp has something to do with it.

38 - 43 psi at idle seems kinda low for a charged Integra, doesn't it? Isn't the idle pressure usually around 52 - 54? Stock pressure is around 42 - 43...?

Correct me, anyone, if I'm way off.

I get 41 idle pressure, 90s with boost. I have an Endyn fuel pump that lowered it from 52 to 40-41. Now I need to drop those boost pressures too, 95 psi cant be good for injectors nor other parts of the system.

Any other thoughts, comments, or suggestions regarding this matter?

Check sender wiring and gauge connections and checks out OK...but like I said, both readings on the Autometer AND the B&M are low (39psi on the AM and 44 on the B&M!!) which are consistent and therefore the sender should be OK, right?

Like GSRcauAZN78, and many others in the past, he has insane fuel pressures that won't drop. Mine problem seems to be the opposite. I may plan to rebuild the FMU. Does anyone find it possible to suspect a "sticky" FMU? If so, where do I find gasker and such material for the rebuild?

As some of you may have noticed my interest in the Walbro 342, I'm also suspecting the pump because I believe I may have worn that sucker out with many long periods of boost...several times bouncing the rev limiter by accident (ouch!)...so are these signs of an abused pump crapping out? I am currently using the GSS317.

Please help shed some light, thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it as long as your static FP on your cartech and your WOT FP are fine, since those are what matter the most. Have those pressures dropped also? Has your A/F reading dropped toward stoich at all on WOT??

I think that you hear that idle FP setting a lot because so many people are running the JR FMU with the fixed rise-rate at 6PSI boost (which gives you a good FP at WOT with a stock fuel setup). It doesn't necessarily apply if you are getting sufficient FP at the critical points I mention above. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If I were you, I'd spend $120 on a new GSS-342 pump and stop worrying about your fuel pump. That's a crucial part and it's so cheap to replace/upgrade.
